Frequently Asked Questions

How long should the hair be?

You need AT LEAST 2 weeks of growth for most body areas. 3 weeks is actually better for places you shave frequently, like legs, underarms, and bikini area. If your hair grows fast, it may look long enough to wax after a week, and some of those hairs may BE long enough. BUT there are small hairs underneath that won’t be long enough for the wax to grab.

Does it hurt?

Yes! But it’s not torture. I always work with new clients to go at a pace that is comfortable for them. Also, if it turns out to be more painful than you want to endure, we can call it off at any time. The fact is, most people end up saying it wasn’t as bad as they thought it would be.

How can I make it hurt less?

First, let it grow. Longer hair comes out more smoothly than shorter hair.

Second, exfoliate for a few days prior to your appointment to help the hair let go a bit more easily.

Third, taking a couple ibuprofen about 30 minutes prior to your appointment will reduce the discomfort.

Fourth, get waxed regularly. If you go wax to wax with no shaving or trimming in between, and you’re getting waxed every 4-5 weeks, the hair will thin out A LOT! Less hair hurts less when it gets removed.

I also sell a product called Bare Ease which is a numbing cream and a latex panty. This product numbs the most sensitive areas during Brazilian waxing; it doesn’t make it a pain-free process, but it’s definitely less painful. The cream needs to be applied 30 minutes prior to your appointment, so you’ll either need to come in some day prior to your appointment, or get here 30 minutes early.

What should I do before my appointment?

Show up for your appointment with clean skin, free of oils and lotions. Don’t tan on the day of your appointment.

What should I do after my appointment?

Stay out of the sun and tanning beds for 24-48 hours after your waxing appointment. Don’t do stuff that’s going to make you sweaty. If you get sweaty, you should take a shower soon after.

I get ingrown hairs. What should I do?

Exfoliate daily with a loofah, body brush, or other natural fiber scrubber. I sell various exfoliating products.

If your ingrown hairs persist despite regular exfoliation, I also sell TendSkin which is a product that works well to treat and prevent ingrown hairs.

How long will the hair stay gone?

It varies from person to person, depending on how fast your hair grows and how long you have been getting waxed. Generally, you will get 2-3 weeks of bareness followed by a thinned out growth of new hair.

How often should I get waxed?

For most body areas, I recommend 4-5 weeks between waxes.

Can I keep my underwear on?

Not if you’re getting a bikini or Brazilian wax.

What’s the difference between a Bikini and Brazilian?

A bikini wax removes the hair on the front side that would stick out of a fairly small bikini bottom. A Brazilian removes all the hair from the front and back. Some people get a Brazilian but leave a patch of hair above the pubic bone. You can always decide how much or how little hair you want removed. Just let me know what you’re after.

Eyelash Extensions

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions lengthen and thicken your natural lashes with single strands of synthetic lashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to individual eyelashes, one lash at a time, for a natural, elegant look. They are perfect for special occasions as well as for everyday wear.

What should I do before my appointment?

Do not wear any makeup or creams around the eye area. If you have any mascara or other eye makeup residue on your eyes, it has to be removed completely before applying lashes. This will cost extra and take extra time.

If you use long-lasting or waterproof mascara, you should stop using it 3 days prior to your lash appointment. These products leave a film that will interfere with the bonding process of your eyelash extensions.

What should I do immediately after I get my eyelash extensions?

Do not get your lashes wet for 24 hours. • Avoid steam from showers, facials, saunas and swimming pools. • Avoid getting moisture around the eye area. • Avoid tanning beds for 48 hours after application. • Avoid chemical peels, waxing or laser treatments around the eyes.

What can I do to make my eyelashes last as long as possible?

Avoid oil-based products around the eye, including makeup remover. • Avoid waterproof and/or oil-based mascara. • Avoid running water over your face. • Avoid rubbing your eyes or lashes, especially when washing your face. Clean around the eye area with a washcloth or cotton swab (Q-tip). • Avoid using an eyelash curler. •If you can, sleep on your back to avoid the risk of lashes rubbing against your pillow. • Gently brush your lashes with a mascara wand to groom them. The best time to do this is after showering. • Avoid pulling your lashes, and don’t attempt to remove them yourself.

If you experience any pain, redness or irritation, contact your technician immediately.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Your lash extension will fall out with your natural lash as it ends its growth cycle. The natural lash cycle is 60-90 days. When one lash falls out there is another lash growing in. Therefore, if you get regular touchups every 3-4 weeks, your eyelash extensions will keep looking beautiful indefinitely.

Can you describe the application process?

You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed while extensions are applied individually to your natural eyelashes. Application of a full set of lashes generally takes between 90-150 minutes. The procedure is so relaxing and comfortable that many clients fall asleep.
